Abstract
A review of the concepts and concerns regarding transmission line faults, fault clearing, and in particular highspeed reclosing is presented. These concepts are illustrated by the description and results of an actual case study which was performed using simulations of a turbine-generator and its response to such grid events. Recommendations regarding highspeed reclosing and possible alternative practices are also discussed.
