Abstract :
A TDRS based navigation system for flight vehicles in near space is proposed. The navigation system, called TDRSI, integrates TDRS and INS to overcome the blackout phenomenon in near space by selecting a very high carrier frequency for the communication link. TDRSI adopts the Kalman filtering algorithm which utilizing TDRS pseudorange information to improve INS navigation results. Navigation results are transmitted to the ground through the TDRS link, thus both the flight vehicle and the ground command and control center can obtain navigation results.
