Abstract :
In 2006 the Deep Space Network (DSN) project office approved changes to the 20 kW transmitters used on the 70 m antennas to improve the overall reliability and to make the 20 kW transmitters used on the 70 m antennas more like the 20 kW transmitters used on the Beam Waveguide (BWG) antennas. Modifications to the automation portion of the transmitter and the heat exchanger have been built and installed. This paper describes the goals, problems encountered, and implementation of the modifications.
