Abstract
The geometrical optics (GO) method has the shortcoming that it cannot predict the correct fields in the shadow region. Its uniform extension (UTD) has advantages to overcome the prediction discontinuity; this is a powerful tool to predict the electromagnetic field in the presence of structures. The paper presents the diffraction characteristic features of buildings on campus using UTD. The cases of a receiver moving parallel to a building and moving up in a shadow zone are modelled. Both the first order diffraction and slope diffraction are taken into account. Measurement results are compared with theoretical ones.
