Abstract :
The development of expert systems requires the efficient capturing and organizing of diverse knowledge in a form suitable for encoding in an expert system shell. A knowledge capture model has been developed and applied for expertise in the selection and use of materials. Two expert systems are currently under development using the model: GeoMat on selection and use of materials for geothermal energy applications and DairyMat on selection and use of stainless steels in the dairy industry
