Abstract
Inland shipping which is the important component of the comprehensive transportation system has made great contributions to the rise and development of the national economy. However, since the reform and opening up, the inland shipping development has not actually displayed the state which is suitable for the high growth of national economy, the role in comprehensive transportation system of inland shipping is weakened seriously. In this paper, the Hunan Xiangjiang River which is the object of study for the empirical, research the key position of the port in the coordinating development between the inland water transport and integrated transport system and boosting the role of basin economy, to verify the port is not only a core strategic resource of basin economy, but also an important strategic node of the coordinating development between the inland water transport and integrated transport system.
