Abstract :
In this paper, a hybrid structure is used to control the main steam pressure of an industrial drum type boiler, during its load cycling (master controller). The proposed control system is a combination of a conventional fixed parameter PID controller and a neural network, that is online trained to minimize the square of PID output and becomes a feedforward controller. The proposed control system was tested by simulating its online operation using a valid low-order boiler model and showed a successful operation.
