  • Abstract
This paper presents two new detailed static three phase induction motor models for power flow and long term voltage stability studies, that correctly represent the motor behavior in all its operating regions and that can be easily implemented in any static simulation program. Including detailed static induction motor models in these two studies is needed in order to correctly initialize dynamic induction motor models in time-domain stability studies, and to assess the effect of induction motor loads in long term voltage stability studies more accurately. Both cases require improving the modeling detail of induction motors currently available in most commercial simulation programs, where loads can only be represented by static load models. Performance of the proposed models is compared to those of the conventional static constant power load model and of two detailed models proposed before in the literature, using digital computer simulations in two test power systems including an important amount of induction motor loads.
