Abstract :
Measurements of waves and currents with the HF radar Pisces are presented. These were made during a 15 month trial aimed at assessing the feasibility of using HF radar as part of the UK wave monitoring network, WAVENET. The measurements are compared with data from a directional wavebuoy and the UK Met Office wave model. Good agreement is demonstrated in general but with limitations in the wave measurement accuracy and availability in low seas during this trial.
