Abstract
In this paper, an ultrathin low cost EBG structure is used to insulate the RFID tag antenna from backside objects. The reflection phase of TM waves and the transmission coefficient of a suspended stripline over an EBG surface are both used to simulate the stopband of such structures. A used dipole antenna placed on top of our proposed EBG structure with an ultrathin substrate is simulated by HFSS.
