Abstract :
In this paper, a cavity stabilized FET harmonic-mode oscillator is investigated. The cavity is inserted in the fundamental or harmonic circuit. A comparison for these two modes of stabilization is made between the different possible types of cavities, i.e., reaction, transmission, reflection, and feedback-type cavities. The performance for these circuits differs in harmonic output power, loaded quality factor, and stable tuning range. The effect on the PM output noise is also given.
