Abstract
This paper gives information of the temporal development of the thickness of a shear driven liquid film and the flow field around a generic water guide rail. The thickness of the film has been successfully determined using the laser light sheet technique. The frequency of the motion the film surface is acquired by a frequency analysis of the time signal of the film thickness. Furthermore standard particle-image velocimetry has been applied to determine the velocity field with and without the liquid film. By this measurement the influence of the liquid film on the flow around the generic water guide rail is demonstrated.
