Abstract :
Optical long distance and high speed networks require an effective flow control scheme better than the ordinary TCP. In this paper, we examine two cross-layer flow control schemes, XCP and XLBA especially for short burst flows. Cross-layer flow controls are essential means to optimize bandwidth utilization and fairness without severe control instability. We are proposing XLBA which eliminates feedback loops from the prospected XCP scheme. Our simulation results show that XLBA is better than XCP in comparing average throughput and fairness for most of the scenarios.
