Abstract
This paper describes a method for achieving full coverage and high capacity links in a line-of-sight (LOS) scenario, at mm-wave bands. Techniques to achieve optimal capacity with uniform linear arrays (ULA) were previously developed. In this paper we look at a different geometry, which consists of a circular arc array at the transmitter, and a ULA at the receiver. The method is based on the optimization of the element distance at the receiver, while the transmitter is fixed. We optimize the link capacity achievable by the proposed geometry with regard to Shannon capacity for a pure LOS channel. The results show that, by considering this circular geometry, full indoor coverage can be achieved as well as high capacity, with practical dimensions.
