Abstract :
A 1.2-Gb/s integrated laser driver has been designed and fabricated in 0.9-μm CMOS technology. The IC provides both the optionally temperature compensable modulation current up to 50 mA with rise/fall times of ~250 ps, and a DC bias current up to 70 mA to keep the average light output constant, monitored by the IC through the backface current of the laser package. This IC has been designed into different transmitters operating over the range of 52 Mb/s to 622 Mb/s with and without temperature compensation
