Abstract :
This paper addresses the role of engineering PhD education in developing teachers in higher education. Efforts have been made to find out, how PhD education can help teachers in developing different teaching skills and what additional is required. It has been found that teaching is a facilitation of the learning process, which requires dedication, efforts, skills and above all one´s own will to improve. While PhD alone can help in achieving teaching skills, such as, subject knowledge and communication skills, right kind of honing, guidance and supplementary teacher training is essentially required to develop effective teachers.
