Abstract :
In this paper we investigate performance of cooperative spectrum sensing where each CR user uses an improved energy detector (IED-CSS) with multiple antennas and selection combining (SC) for detecting the PU in noisy faded sensing channels. Each CR user transmits its decision about PU via noisy faded reporting channel to fusion center (FC). In this paper we assume that sensing channels are Rayleigh faded while several cases of fading are considered for reporting channels such as (a) Rayleigh and (b) Nakagami. A Binary Symmetric channel (BSC) with a fixed error probability in the reporting channel is also compared. The performances of IED-CSS under several cases of faded reporting channels have been characterized through total error probability (Qm+Qf). The impact of fading in reporting channel, sensing channel and several parameters of IED on total error probability is assessed.
