Abstract :
Inverse synthetic-aperture radar (ISAR) is a technique for improving the cross-range resolution of coherent imaging radars. ISAR exploits any relative rotational motion between target and radar and is becoming increasingly popular in the airborne maritime radar surveillance role for ship classification. In order to produce well-focused images suitable for classification any linear acceleration between target and radar must be measured and compensated for. The Wigner-Ville time-frequency transform is one method that has been applied to successfully focus ISAR images of maritime targets
