Abstract :
In this paper we compare the fluorescence spectroscopy performance of suspended-core PCF with a sub micron core, with that of a kagome hollow-core PCF . In the kagome PCF, all the channels (core and cladding holes) are filled with liquid. As a result, the core is effectively single-mode over a broad wavelength range, resulting in well-controlled fluorescence excitation and detection.
