Abstract :
In this paper, we show that constraining the activity factor of a low data rate UWB transceiver is an effective way to ensure protection of a licensed in-band service. This protection mechanism is efficient even in close vicinity of a UWB transceiver and yet flexible enough to preserve the interesting properties of UWB for realistic applications. It avoids reducing the UWB radiated power and thus preserves the range and link robustness. Based on both UWB and WiMAX technical requirements, activity factors are proposed. Measurement results prove the effectiveness of such an interference mitigation technique.
