Abstract
A sparse sampling based compensation (SSBC) method is proposed in this letter. The complex amplitudes (CAs) of clutter scatterers, which are larger than the sampling threshold (ST), are sampled along the direction Doppler curve (DDC) of each range cell. Then, the covariance matrix of each range cell is reconstructed by using the sampled clutter scatterers to mitigate the range-dependence problem in the forward-looking airborne radar (FLAR). Finally, the computer simulation results show that the computation burden is reduced considerably by using SSBC method as well as the space-time adaptive processing (STAP) performance of FLAR is kept.
