Abstract :
The authors discuss methods for generating circular polarization. A comparison of the predicted scan performance of the techniques for generating circular polarization in probe-fed microstrip patch phased arrays using a rigorous full-wave analysis is presented. The scan and bandwidth performance for each configuration for various substrate parameters is investigated. It is shown that reasonably good scan axial ratios can be achieved using the single feed configuration. Also a novel technique is introduced which can reduce the axial ratio at broadside for the single and dual feed configuration arrays mounted on relatively thick substrates.
