Abstract :
Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy analysis by direct measurement of the optical emission from a laser-induced plasma is attractive as a remote and real time technique of monitoring chemical composition of any material. The assignment of different atomic and ionic lines, which are signatures of a particular element, is the basis of a qualitative identification of the species present in plasma. The intensity ratio of an analyte line and reference lines can be used for the quantitative determination of the corresponding sample elements.
