Abstract :
This paper describes the relation between the two different kinds of EXIT charts that arise in the analysis of a hybrid concatenated turbo coding scheme used for achieving unequal error protection capabilities. From this analysis, it is shown that both kinds of charts can be used for analyzing the iterative decoding procedure of such hybrid concatenated codes. Finally, it is shown that the study of the hybrid turbo codes can be reduced to the study of the component serial concatenated codes.
