Abstract :
The identified slot scan-based tag collection algorithm (ISS-TCA), which was proposed in a previous study to improve the tag collection (TC) performance in active RFID systems, has the drawback that it is optimized in situations where all the tags store a fixed amount of data. So this algorithm does not perform well with tags having a variable amount of data. This paper proposes an enhanced ISS-TCA to solve the drawback of the previous ISS-TCA. The enhanced ISS-TCA first collects the slot size information required for the data response from each tag via an ISS phase, and then performs the TC phase with the dynamic slot size utilizing the slot size information. The simulation results for performance evaluation showed that the enhanced ISS-TCA leads to a good performance improvement of TC in all situations compared with the standard TCA in ISO/IEC 18000-7 and the previous ISS-TCA.
