Abstract :
This paper proposes an approach exploiting novel globally standardized cloud-based platform systems. These platforms incorporating inbuilt access provision to open application programming interfaces and open source coding could facilitate end-users to ultimately develop individualized ubiquitous Home Energy Management System (HEMS) applications. An experimental scenario is designed to exhibit how such scenarios could revolutionize the level of end-user engagement with these systems, thus promoting and enhancing the outcomes of deployed energy reduction schemes.
