Abstract
The authors extend their previous probabilistic analysis (1990) to the systole and diastole using an additional 500 patient data and compare the results with their results using diastolic data alone. Comparisons are made between mass calculated for systole and diastole and for men and women. Sensitivity analysis is performed to identify the effect of each of the left ventricular parameters on the calculated mass and on the partial derivatives with respect to these variables. Finally, a rationale is established based on which a decision is made about the criticality of systolic and diastolic phase, and also the identification of the most critical parameter
