Abstract
This paper presents simulation studies of an efficient Wavelength division multiplexed erbium doped fiber ring laser for high gain and low noise, in C band and extending up to L band region (1545-1615nm). An average gain of 33.10dB and noise figure of 7dB (maxima) has been reported on optimizing the system at -30dBm/channel input signal level, 150mW pump powers and amplifier lengths of 10m and 20m respectively at room temperature. The system has also been investigated for different fiber lengths, pump powers, input signal levels and temperatures. Inclusion of chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) provided a uniform gain over 70nm with 0.2dB (p-p) variation.
