Abstract :
A method is proposed to evaluate the probability of failure of a system considering both fuzzy and random variables. The method is first developed to consider one fuzzy variable in a probabilistic problem. The method is then extended to consider multiple fuzzy variables. The method is specifically applicable to cases where the limit state function is available in a close form and all fuzzy variables can be grouped so that they can be represented by a single fuzzy variable. The method is verified with an example. The results obtained are quite logical and very encouraging
