Abstract :
In antenna design, feeding structures may cause improper effects on the performance of antennas. In this paper, a practical and efficient feeding structure for differential elliptical antennas using the combination of CPW feed lines and a vertical balun transformer, is presented. Using the designed feed, return loss (VSWR), radiation pattern and time/frequency domain characteristics of the antenna are evaluated and compared with an ideal lumped port feeding structure used in the literature. It is shown that the designed feeding structure works properly without deteriorating the antenna performance. Moreover, by using the new feed, one is able to feed the antenna with a simple 50-ohm SMA connector.
