Abstract :
We evaluate the performance of the optical amplifier for various input pulse parameters such as pulse energy, pulse length and as well as optical pump power. The pump power is provided by a multimode CW laser diode operating at 976 nm and coupled co-propagating into the cladding of 7 m of Ytterbium-doped fiber. The entire setup is made of polarization maintaining single-mode fiber to ensure a high polarization extinction ratio (PER) at the output. A fixed polarization state and narrow spectrum are essential for high efficiency nonlinear frequency conversion.
