Abstract
This paper presents a novel method for power flow analysis with unified power flow controllers (UPFC). A UPFC power flow model has been proposed, in which the impacts of UPFC devices on the system are modeled as the equivalent loads. According to typical control objectives of UPFCs, several sets of calculation formulas for the equivalent loads are deduced. Using the proposed model, a Newton-Raphson algorithm in rectangular form is developed to deal with power flow analysis with UPFCs. The numerical examples of the IEEE-30 bus system are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method
