Abstract :
The program HECTOR is presented. Its main goal is to construct a circuit topology for a specific analog function using library descriptions of commonly used basic building blocks. Of particular interest is HECTOR´s construction strategy, which is hierarchical, interactive, and expert-system-assisted. Equally important is HECTOR´s declarative and context-independent approach to describing building blocks in the library. This last aspect of HECTOR contributes new ideas to current developments in analog hardware description languages (AHDLs). A prototype version of HECTOR has been implemented on a TI Explorer II
