Abstract :
In this paper a half-mode leaky-wave antenna operating at the frequency of 94 GHz and based on the excitation of the first higher order mode of the microstrip line (ML) is presented. Moreover, the suppression of the fundamental mode is achieved by placing an electric wall along the half of the ML and therefore a higher efficiency is obtained. Indeed, by selecting properly the geometrical dimensions of the ML a tailored radiation pattern can be synthesized. In order to efficiently calculate the leaky-mode´s complex propagation constant the transverse resonance technique is used and several practical designs have been simulated using commercial full-wave software.
