Abstract :
View random access is one of the most important requirements for multiview video coding. It should be taken into consideration when investigating a specific coding scheme. A new method is proposed in this paper to evaluate the performance of view random access of different multiview video coding schemes. The main idea is to develop our algorithms using the concepts of graph theory, since the coding schemes of multiview video are not of linear but matrix types. Two terms, the rate-view random access degree (RVRAD) and view random access degree (VRAD) are given as quantitative measurements for view random access with and without considering the bit-rate, respectively. The simulation results show that the RVRAD and VRAD can be successfully used to quantitatively measure the view random access of different multiview video coding schemes.
