Title :
New apparent power and power factor with nonsinusoidal waveforms

Abstract :
The new concept in AC power theory is investigated for three phase systems. It is shown that there is discrepancy in the definition of reactive and phasor (complex) power in the time and frequency domains when the conventional power theory is considered. It is also shown that the new power theory consistently defines the power quantities in the time and frequency domains. A comparison between the results given by the new method and the other two methods, known as RMS and System or equivalent apparent power are presented. It is shown that the new method does not possess the shortcomings of the conventional methods
