Abstract :
In this paper, a dual-polarized ultra-wideband antenna element for wide-angle scan phased array, which has the characteristics of simplified feeding, reduced size and weight, are proposed and investigated to fulfill the demand of airborne radars applications. The mechanical design under the platform limitation on weight and volume is considered, while the electrical design for ultra-wideband and wide-angle scan performance is presented. The simulated and measured results are shown to express the advantages and practicability of the proposed antenna array. Meanwhile, the problem of impedance anomalies and edge effects are studied for further understanding and guidelines of the next design.
