Abstract :
By considering the classical problem of electromagnetic scattering of a circular conducting cylinder, the invariance of the measured equation of invariance (MEI) is examined analytically. Using the asymptotic expansion of the Hankel function of second kind, H/sub n//sup (2)/(k/spl rho/), the case of an electrically large cylinder is studied. It is shown that by truncating all the terms of the expansion with orders higher than 1/(k/spl rho/)/sup 2/, the MEI coefficients are invariant to the field of excitation.
