  • Abstract
The telephone message delivery system (TMDS), an effective voice messaging system based on the signal computing system architecture (SCSA), is proposed to increase the call completion rate of the PSTN. The TMDS is composed of two mutually interactive functions. One is a conditional re-routing function in the central office (CO) electronic switching system (ESS). The other is a supplementary computer control system which handles incoming or outgoing calls, and provides subscribers with various message management functions. The SCSA is adopted to maximize the system performance. The implemented system has been tested in three fields for three months. This paper also evaluates the field trial results
