Abstract
In recent years, China´s rapid urbanization has caused a tremendous rise of the building energy consumption (BEC), which accounts for a large share of total energy consumption. It´s well known that economic growth and energy consumption are closely related. In this paper, we present an empirical analysis of BEC and its impact factors in the term of econometrics, from the data in 1980-2007. The results show that as an important indicator of economic structure and living standards, BEC is and will encounter continuous increase in China. More effort should be put in energy savings and slowing down the growth of BEC.
