Abstract :
The description of a beam-lead diodes balanced mixer is reexamined. First it is shown that each mixer access can be theoretically described, in good agreement with experimental results. In the second step, the non-linear analysis (harmonic balance method) is developped, for conversion loss prediction. The analysis includes the typical characteristics of beam-lead diodes and their "behavior" with respect to the embedding network. A millimeter-wave beam-lead diodes balanced mixer was developped and characterized at 90 GHz for experimental and simulated results comparison.
