Abstract :
The paper deals with the simulation of the digital video transmission using the model of the baseband transmission channel. The paper introduces baseband channel with variable cut-off frequency and then two simulation experiments. The first was done with the DVB baseband processing and simulation in Matlab applied to the set of test images with variable characteristics. The second was done with the real digital video captured, compressed and processed again according to DVB. The transmitted data were protected against transmission errors by forward error correction code. The results of achieved error rates and according picture quality measures in dependence on the transmission channel cut-off are presented and compared.
