Abstract
Based on the continuity of potential on conductor surface, the transient electromagnetic field resulting from line fault is calculated by using MoM. With the complex resistivity introduced, the effect of grounding grid was also included. The proposed approach, which is validated by comparison with other method, can be used to analyse the wave process and space electromagnetic fields of arbitrary constituted conductor structure under the cases of lightning strike and line fault with frequency lower than several hundreds kHz. Both the power frequency electromagnetic field and the transient electric field of a practical substation under fault were evaluated as an application.
