Abstract
This paper discusses the tunable near field dipole-dipole coupling in ensembles of colloidal semiconductor quantum rods (nanorods) aligned in a stretched polymer matrix. The optical properties of an individual nanorod can be approximated by an oscillating dipole. Non-radiative resonance energy transfer also called (RET or FRET) is in dependence of the experimentally degree of linear polarisation.Potential application of these experiments are strain sensors with an optical read out especially when the polymer films are equipped with reflecting surfaces forming a cavity.
