Abstract
An integrated database system for genome mapping and DNA sequence data was developed. The system seamlessly manages two different types of data each of which has a unique complex structure. A graphical user interface (GUI) enables easy retrieval of information obtained from genome mapping and DNA sequence data. The map data are imported from the Genome Data Base (GDB). The sequence data are imported from the GenBank. Two versions of the system were developed. The first version uses an internal database management routine. The other version has a Sybase relational database interface. Trade-offs between the two versions are discussed.<>
