Abstract :
This paper describes some recent developments of the Culham Particle-in-Cell (PIC) software for use in the design vacuum electronic devices. Increasingly complex devices, with volume and surface physics models and coupling to external circuits can now be modelled in detail, making virtual prototyping a powerful and cost effective adjoint to mathematical analysis and laboratory testing.
