MPI performance study on the SGI Origin2000
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The SGI Origin 2000 is a MIPS R10000 based distributed shared memory (DSM) multiprocessor machine. This paper presents detailed performance analysis of the MPI implementation on this DSM system. Based on the measured performance data for inter-processor communication (IPC), this paper describes a model for the IPC performance behavior. In addition, the performance for collective communication such as broadcast/reduction and gather/scatter is discussed. The performance impact of data moving distance and network contention on this machine is also addressed in this paper
