Abstract :
90° and 270° plane metallic corners occur in many discontinuties in microwave integrated circuits (MIC), such as impedance steps. The determination of the scattering matrix of the step by variational methods, for instance, requires some knowledge of E-field at the discontinuity. In particular, the introduction `a priori´ of the E-field´s distributed singularity along the contour of a general metallic wedge is a most important factor in obtaining fast convergence of the numerical solution. We formulate rigorously this singularity, studying Laplace´s equation in conical co-ordinates.
