Abstract :
Comprehensive modeling is a primary course to cultivate students¿ design cognition and their ability of three dimensional modeling. With the development of modern designing and teaching, many universities have actively engaged themselves in the exploration and reformation of this course, and have gained quite a lot experience. Putting at the beginning of the new term, comprehensive modeling gives the students a systematic and all-round understanding of designing, especially the classifying of designing at its fundamental sense. With the design cognition as the essential element of cultivation, restriction is the basic requirement for design and also the starting point of finding the breakthrough. Only after the students have formed independent and mature design cognition and the regular pattern of modeling through practicing can they gain a solid background for the product design for their further study.
