Abstract
Identity concealment is viewed as a standard identity privacy feature. UMTS provides partial concealment. This work extends the UMTS mutual authentication protocol such that the true identity of a mobile equipment cannot be discovered by an attacker eavesdropping over the radio access link interface. Three different solutions using aliases are proposed. Each of them provides perfect identity concealment to mobile equipment over the radio access link part of an UMTS connection.
